Project Description: Provide a brief description of the topics you studied throughout the first quarter as well as your preparation for the Youth Voices Symposium.
For this project, we chose important topics to us and the election. We had to research the topic that we chose and then do a panel, which is just discussing the topic. We did our panel at High Tech High Media Arts Point Loma. Our goal was "to understand the importance of having a voice in the political process and how we can work together to improve our democracy". The topic I was given to research for this project was Proposition 64: Should Marijuana be legalized?
Project Learning Part 1: What did you learn about the history of voting rights? Voter participation? Electoral college? Political discourse?
I learned about Women’s Suffrage and got to watch a short little movie about it. I also learned that it is kind of difficult to vote. Like there’s so many things you got to do and have to know.
Project Learning Part 2: What did you learn about your chosen topic? How did your perspective change during research? Group conversation? Exhibition?
Well I learned quite a bit from my project but I am very tired to write about it lol bye.
Reflection: How has your participation in this project impacted your thinking about the political process? What was significant to you during the project?
